Regulator suspends cybersecurity partnership with Alibaba Cloud · TechNode

On Wednesday, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology suspended an information-sharing partnership with Alibaba Cloud for six months after the latter reportedly failed to report a cybersecurity vulnerability promptly. The security loophole concerns Apache Log4j2, a Java-based tool widely used in enterprise systems and web applications. It may result in high-risk vulnerabilities such as remote access to the system, which could lead to leakage of sensitive information and system breakdown. The regulator said they will reassess the company’s qualifications in six months. [Reuters]
