Around 2,000 new COVID cases detected in Iran

The number of people tested positive for the coronavirus in Iran in the past 24 hours declined remarkably compared to the daily rates over the past weeks, standing at slightly above 2,000 cases.

According to Tasnim News Agency, the Health Ministry announced on Wednesday that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in Iran has surpassed 6,212,300 after the detection of 2,089 new cases since yesterday.

Of the new cases detected over the past 24 hours, 284 patients have been admitted to the hospital, it added.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 1,533 coronavirus patients are being kept in the intensive care units because of more severe infection, the ministry said.

It further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 131,972, saying the disease has taken the lives of 32 patients over the past 24 hours.
