S&P 500 hints at a run toward all-time highs as futures rise in final session before Christmas

U.S. stock futures indicated modest gains for the final session of the week, amid continued optimism that global economies won’t be derailed over the Omicron coronavirus variant.

Investors must get through a big batch of data before the long Christmas weekend can begin, however.

How are stock-index futures trading?
  • S&P 500 futures ES00 are up 0.2% to 4,696
  • Dow Jones Industrial Average futures YM00 rose 0.2% to 35,710
  • Nasdaq-100 futures NQ00 gained 0.1% to 16,176

On Wednesday, the S&P 500 SPX closed up 1% at 4,696.56, the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA rose 261.19 points, or 0.7%, to 35,753.89, while the Nasdaq Composite COMP climbed 1.2% to finish at 15,521.89.
