The eighth wonder of the world is located in Cambodia. This wonder is known as the Temples of Angkor. There are over thirty temples and shrines that visitors can come to Cambodia to admire. These temples were built starting back in 802 and they are still magnificent to behold.
Because of this, many travelers visit Cambodia on a regular basis. Unfortunately, most travelers only stay in Cambodia only long enough to visit the temples. These travelers get a great experience in the temples, but they never get to see anything else in Cambodia. This is unfortunate because there is much more to Cambodia than the Temples of Angkor.
I wrote this article to talk about a few of the activities people should be doing when traveling through Cambodia. Consider visiting vacation flash sales now to book a stay in a floating hotel or some other wonderful accommodations.
Prek Toal Bird Sanctuary
Nature lovers should not miss the opportunity to visit the Prek Toal Bird Sanctuary. This bird sanctuary can only be accessed by boat and is located near some amazing local floating villages. Just be sure to visit when the waters are high or you won’t be able to access as much of the sanctuary.
Phnom Kulen National Park
Phnom Kulen National Park is full of mountains, waterfalls, and religious sites. Visitors can take a quick dip in the water, walk through the forests, and enjoy the large stone Buddha statues.
The Land Mine Museum
An interesting place to visit on your travels through Cambodia is the Land Mine Museum. This museum tells the story of the wars in Cambodia and is being used to help clean up the land mines that can still be found in Cambodia.
The Angkor Golf Resort
If the stories of land mines are getting you down, why not go golfing? The Angkor Golf Resort is a beautiful place to golf without having to worry about large lines at the starting tee.
The Banteay Srey Butterfly Centre
If golfing isn’t your thing, you can always spend your time in the Banteay Srey Butterfly Centre instead. This is a great place to see butterflies in all of the different stages. Watch them go from caterpillar, to cocoon, to full grown butterfly in different areas of the Centre. The guides there will also give you some interesting facts and stories of butterflies.
Aqua Water Park
When you get hot and tired from experiencing the temples, go ahead and cool off at Aqua. This place is full of games, pools, and bars. Its a great place to just relax and re-energize.
If Aqua isn’t relaxing enough for you, head on over to one of the local spas. Cambodia is full of relaxing spas that you can take advantage of. You’ll receive great treatments at absurdly low prices.
The Khmer Ceramics Centre
Once you’re done relaxing, head on over to the Khymer Ceramics Centre. This center will teach you the basics of pottery and will even let you do some of your own.
