Fluoride – How Bad is it?

It may be difficult to believe, but even when visiting a dentist and he requests that you partake with his fluoride treatment, this can be deleterious to your health, and this often happens every time one goes in for a check up. It is not that your dentist is intentionally trying to harm you but rather that your dentist does not have the proper information on the effects of too much fluoride in a person.

There once was a case of a child dying in the dentist’s chair due to a fluoride treatment. Since many people already receive enough fluoride from their water, toothpaste, and from other sources, it is important to limit any additional fluoride from being introduced into your body or the body of those you love and care for.

While many people have been lead to believe that a lot of fluoride is good for their teeth, studies have shown that areas with a higher amount of fluoride in the water have more cases of teeth decay. Too much of anything never leads to something good. This is something that you have to be careful about.

While some people would say to just completely stop ingesting fluoride, that is not something that can easily be done. Fluoride is a very ubiquitous chemical, and can be found in Scotchgaurd, household products, oral products such as toothpaste, in tea, municipal water supplies, and also in many other places. It is almost impossible to escape.

While you may not be able to completely rid your body of fluoride intake, you can take steps to reduce your chances of an overdoes. Obviously, the best thing that one can do in to become informed as to the whereabouts of this insidious chemical, and subsequently avoid anything and everything that contains fluoride in it. At the end of the day you will most likely still ingest this chemical from sources you are not entirely aware of, but as with anything, the biggest step is in arming yourself with information that will assist you and your loved ones in at least being able to identify the major sources of this compound, thus eliminating the chance of an overdose of fluoride.

Start by using toothpastes that do not have fluoride in them. Also make sure that you are taking in enough vitamin B6 and vitamin C supplements. Try to stay away from non-stick pans that use Teflon as Teflon is made from fluoride. Consuming pieces of Teflon and such from pans as you can imagine can affect your health.

Eat plenty of foods that are low in fluoride such as red meats, milk, eggs, fruit such as lemon, banana, coconut, watermelon, and pineapple. Make sure that you are keeping up on your dental health and that you are reducing the amount of sugars and starches that you eat.

It is not at all difficult to observe that it is very difficult indeed to avoid entirely fluoride all together. But as long as you are taking as many precautions as you can you should be just fine. Try not to allow the fear of fluoride control your life but make sure that you and you are loved ones are aware of the dangers. By having knowledge you will be in a much better position to ensure that you will have good health.
